About our organization
The Pregnancy and Postpartum Health Alliance of Texas is a volunteer-run organization that is dedicated to supporting families affected by perinatal mood disorders (PMAD). PPHA was created in 2010 in collaboration with mothers in search of community and healing, and mental health care professionals who specialize in PMAD. Our mission is ambitious but simple.
We provide three primary functions to serve the Central Texas community.
The first is to be a resource for local families who may be in need of help. We do this by providing public access to a network of providers that specialize in perinatal mood disorders.
Second, we seek to educate. We hold training and participate in educational seminars for health professionals.
Finally, and perhaps most notably, we offer three core programs for underserved mothers in the Austin community. These include a postpartum doula program, a therapy voucher program, and a psychiatric voucher program. All of these are available to mothers who qualify and give care to those who might not be able to afford it otherwise.
